Best Little Closet Inspiration

Today's Agenda

Uploading some photos from recent quick trip to NYC...love the DVF building!

DSC_9319

Check out this little closet from a recent hotel stay — so functional and cute!  You could totally personalize it with a great paint color and fabric.  And, of course, your clothes. Great use of a tiny space or otherwise unused space in your home.

I Love Washington: Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

Today's Agenda

Placing lots of orders today! A great office set up, a black and white zebra runner...great group of clients!

Hirschorn01

One of the best things about living in Washington, DC are the many many FREE museums!  The exhibits are amazing and thought provoking and it’s something easy to do.  The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden features modern art, and never disappoints.  We have seen two exhibits in the past year or so that we loved. The Ai Weiwei exhibit that is currently being shown until February 24, 2013 does a great job of showing the range and breath of this… Read More »

The Nomad Hotel

Today's Agenda

Presenting a design plan for a law office -- I think my husband is a little bit jealous of it!

Nomad Hotel Facade

Tucked away in what has always been a rather creepy corridor of Manhattan is The Nomad Hotel, possibly the coolest new hotel in NYC. This super sophisticated hotel is housed in one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the city, which is clearly a departure from the drab and surprisingly sleazy clothing stores surrounding it – but then it wouldn’t be New York without the distinctive juxtaposition of the super-cool with dreary urban landscapes. Inside is one of the… Read More »

On My Agenda on Apartment Therapy

Today's Agenda

Back to work! We had an amazing holiday weekend and I'm excited for the work that lies ahead to round out 2012 and go into 2013.

nicole_husband_1121

I’m so excited to share with you my home tour on Apartment Therapy!  I’m a huge fan of AT and their books are constant sources of inspiration for my work.  It was amazing to work with photographer Nicole Crowder from The Chestnut Orange.  It was also perfect timing as I was able to get the house completely cleaned before the photo shoot and keep it that way until our families arrived for Thanksgiving.  An added bonus. You can see the… Read More »

How to fit a 72″ Dining Table into the trunk of your Mazda

Today's Agenda

We are working on a partner's law office this week -- fun for me to design the perfect law office!

CB2 Woody Dining Table Floor Sample 72" dining table

People said it could not be done.  Even I had started to have my doubts. When I bought the Woody Dining Table floor sample at CB2, I kind of assumed it would  fit in the back of my Mazda 3 Hatchback. The size of the table looked super reasonable in the store, and besides a car is bigger than a dining table right? I’ve been eyeing the Woody for a while now and the floor model price was too good… Read More »

Before & After: A Re(de)fined Living Space

Today's Agenda

What isn't on today's agenda?!?

livingroomafter01

I can’t say enough how much I loved working with the owners of this beautiful home… They were such a fun and gracious family and really wanted a home that reflected how they lived – they love each other, love to entertain family and friends and (best of all!) love moving furniture around. The biggest challenge was creating a warm, inviting, interesting and fun living room that everyone in this super-cool family could enjoy. When I came in, I noticed… Read More »

A Halloween Dinner Party

Today's Agenda

Hitting the design center to check out some carpet samples and wallpaper samples!

HalloweenDinnerParty7

We had a fun dinner party on Saturday night — An Evil Feast!  I got creative with decorations and food — a theme is great inspiration for designing a menu and a space. And I have great friends that humored my desire to have a themed Halloween party.  No costumes were required but we did make a last minute call for an all black attire requirement.  And, I crimped my hair.  Just because Marshall’s had a crimper for $15 when… Read More »

Halloween Decorating – Keeping it Civilized but Plenty Creepy

Today's Agenda

My sliding door to our 2nd bedroom to be installed today! It's fun to be the one having work done on her home :)

Halloween Decorating3

If there’s anything anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the holidays. No holiday is too small or un-fun in our world… My favorite is Thanksgiving but Halloween may be giving Thanksgiving a run for its money this year.  I know, I know – it was two days ago. But its never too late, and in light of Halloween falling on Wednesday this year, I decided to make this a week long decorating extravaganza, culminating in a… Read More »

Carving Out Space for An Office

Today's Agenda

Just found out that my sliding doors for our loft bedroom from the sliding door company are in and ready to be installed!

Chic Georgetown Rental

Last week one of my fun home office client projects was featured in the Washington Post Express section.  This project was fun for me because it was a rental and we got creative both with budget and ideas to personalize the space.  Just because you have a rental doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make your space your own!  Especially your own little space for a home office. I’ve posted the full article below (it’s not online yet).  Many thanks to Jessica… Read More »
